What is
'Trash Hunting'?
What is 'Trash Hunting'?
Have you ever played 'Scavenger hunt' when you were a child?
We created our own scavenger hunt with much easier and more direct way.
Trash hunting is same with Scavenger hunt. But instead of looking for chocolates or pencils, we find 'good trash'!

'Good trash' are stuff (mostly furniture) which are still good for another round but thrown away for some reasons.
You might think, 'why do people throw this stuff away? They can donate them to charity shops.' but we found out very few charity shops offering collection service and to use that, you need to live in certain range of distance and have lots of stuff to donate. So for example, if you have a large sofa to donate but you don't have a car and live out of the collection service distance range, then there's nothing much you can do with that. So eventually, it becomes trash even though it's still good.

We noticed this while we walk around Rotterdam for our research. We thought it's a shame that all these good stuff are becoming trash and maybe there are people who needs them such as students on budget.
We'd like to let people know that there're good stuff out there somewhere near your place so someone can probably give them another life.

By using this map, you can contribute to reduce trash in Rotterdam and also makes people aware of how much trash there are in our city.
